What is SASO/SABER?

The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organisation (SASO) have made the decision to implement the Saudi Product Safety Programme (SALEEM) by launching the SABER platform for online Certification for Exports to Saudi Arabia.

SASO has published a list of Technical Regulations covering various products such as Lube Oils, Detergents, Building Materials, and Construction Products, Paints, Lifts, Vehicle Spare Parts, Textiles, etc.

The products covered by the Technical Regulations are referred to as Regulated Products.

Saber is an electronic platform that helps the local supplier and factory to register the required conformity certificates electronically for consumer products, whether imported or locally manufactured, to enter the Saudi market. The platform also aims to raise the level of safe products in the Saudi market.

The process for obtaining a PCoC is:
  1. Importer adds product information on the SABER platform.
  2. Importer selects CB for issuance of PCoC and pays related fees.
  3. The CB accesses the SABER platform to check for importer requests.

SABER is a platform that allows importers and local manufacturers to electronically obtain the required Certificate of Conformity and Certificate of Shipment Conformity for consumer goods, whether they were imported or locally manufactured to enter the Saudi market.
